Commissioning Week Part 5

Wednesday, May 20th - This was a sightseeing day for all of us (except Ben who had graduation practice, etc.) so we headed into DC for a tour of the Capitol Building, arranged for by Ken. Since we had a little time before the tour, we took in a couple of the monuments.

The ever-imposing Washington Monument with Ken and Mom Zintak in the foreground.

The (long-overdue) World War II Memorial which is special to both sides of the family. Ken's father served in the Navy (Pacific Theater) and my dad served in the Army Air Corps (China-Burma-India Theater). I have many more photos of this beautiful monument, too many to post here. If you haven't seen it, you should the next time you're in the Capital.

Then we headed to the Capitol, by way of the office intern of our House Representative, Mark Kirk. Lots of beautiful murals, frescoes and statues; even the old Supreme Court room is well-kept.
